Setting a Scene

This weekend, Thessaloniki holds an annual International Trade Fair. Due to the governments instability, riots and marches are going on all weekend. We have been told to be careful not to go near Aristotle University, but that we would be safe, even in our central location. Here is a video of what I was able to catch this evening from the balcony of our studio...

A German Man that lives near us translated the posters for me as the rioters marched through. Most of the posters said statements such as, "No More Suffering," "No More Back to the Dark Ages," and "Move Forward." The Prime Minister, George Papandreou will be visiting the city tomorrow to open up the International Trade Fiar with a speech, so they are preparing the scene for him. Shall be an interesting weekend!

This is our kitchen table... a candle, fresh flowers, and four sweet figs. Such a contradiction to the atmosphere outside. It's the small, sweet things in life that make our hearts smile! (Note: the figs in Thessaloniki are AMAZING!)
